​The British Museum in London welcomed 6,820,686 visitors in 2015, making it the most visited museum in the United Kingdom.

​That is 2 percent more than in 2014, making the museum the most visited attraction in the United Kingdom for the ninth year in a row. This is according to figures from Alva, the sector association of British tourist attractions.

The British Museum is dedicated to human history, art and culture. The permanent collection of around eight million works is one of the largest and extensive that exists and documents the story of human culture from beginning to the present.
