Nusa Lembongan is my first stop and I’m doing everything on foot, taking my time to soak in the island’s vibrant atmosphere. My first awe-inspiring moment hits at Devil's Tears Bay. "Guys, have you ever seen a sunset that just blows your mind?" The sun sinks into the horizon, painting the sky with a stunning purple-pink glow. "This is a sunset you’ll want to keep forever." Next, I discover my own private paradise. "Friends, check this out." I’m at the end of a bustling beach and decide to venture past a large rock at low tide. Suddenly, I’m on a deserted stretch of white sand, untouched and pristine. "Feels like finding a hidden treasure, right?" Just me, the sand and the endless blue sea. Total bliss. And speaking of bliss, Mushroom Beach is like stepping into a postcard. The water is the bluest blue and the sand is soft beneath my feet. "Ever had one of those moments where you think: this is what life’s all about?" Over at Jungutbatu Beach, I catch a glimpse of Bali’s majestic Mount Agung in the distance, shrouded in clouds. "Friends, have you ever had a view that just makes you stop and stare?" The iconic Yellow Bridge is next. This brightly coloured landmark connects Nusa Lembongan with Nusa Ceningan. It’s only for motorcycles and pedestrians - no cars allowed. "Imagine if your daily commute looked like this." Crossing it feels like entering another world, leaving the bustle of Lembongan behind. On Nusa Ceningan, I embark on a 12-kilometre hike. The paths wind through scenic routes, offering westward views over Nusa Lembongan and eastward glimpses of Nusa Penida. The water between the islands shimmers like a jewel. Then, I find the Blue Lagoon. This rocky cove boasts the clearest, most vibrant blue water I’ve ever seen. "Can you picture a better place to unwind and escape from everything?" Next up is Nusa Penida, where I rent a motorcycle to explore more. First stop: Kelingking Beach. This place is legendary and for good reason. The view is so jaw-dropping it makes you forget to breathe. "Ever found a spot so incredible it makes every rough road worth it?" Broken Beach, or Pasih Uug, is another highlight. A stunning coastal formation with a natural rock arch, it’s one of Penida’s most picturesque locations. "There’s something magical about a view that makes every bump in the road fade away." But my favourite spot? Seganing Waterfall. The climb down the cliff is steep and a bit sketchy, with precarious bamboo railings. But the reward is worth it. At the bottom, a small freshwater pool awaits, right next to the crashing waves. "Ever discovered a secret spot so perfect it feels like your own slice of paradise?" I spend hours here, cooling off in the pool and soaking up the serenity. Standing on the cliffs of Nusa Penida, I remind myself, "Do more than just exist." The island’s rugged beauty and untouched wilderness inspire that kind of reflection. "What would you want to be thinking in a moment like this?" Finally, I hit Crystal Bay. The water here is crystal clear, perfect for snorkelling and diving. Colourful coral reefs, schools of fish and the occasional sea turtle make this spot a diver’s paradise. "Friends, ever felt the thrill of diving into an underwater world that’s as vibrant as it gets?" I swim from the beach, no boat needed and let the underwater realm dazzle me. These islands, with their raw beauty and untamed spirit, have carved out a special place in my heart. As I head back to Bali, I know this isn’t goodbye. The Nusa Islands are the kind of place that pulls you back, time and time again. Hanan I travel the world to find unexpected stories. 9 September 2024 Comments are closed.
