São Paulo: the pulse of Brazil’s coffee culture

São Paulo isn’t just Brazil’s business powerhouse—it’s where the country’s coffee story all began. Back in the 1800s, São Paulo’s streets were the epicentre of Brazil’s coffee trade, with the Vale do Paraíba plantations fuelling a global empire. The coffee boom didn’t just power the economy; it transformed the city into a hotspot for luxury, influence and of course, coffee culture.

From coffee estates to the countryside

Just outside the city centre, you’ll stumble upon São Paulo’s historic coffee estates in places like Campinas and Itu. Once the homes of coffee barons, these grand haciendas now serve as living museums. Wander through their magnificent halls and step into Brazil’s coffee roots—where beans were picked by hand, and the coffee industry helped build the country’s social and economic foundations.

It’s an unforgettable immersion into coffee culture and the region’s agricultural roots.
